One death related to COVID-19 was reported Wednesday in Boone County.

The person was in the 80-plus age group, the Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services Department said in a tweet. 

This brings the number of COVID-19 deaths in the county to 57. There have been 5,491 deaths statewide as of Wednesday afternoon. 

Boone County recorded 117 new cases Wednesday. There have been 13,705 positive cases in the county, 780 of which are active.
