A Columbia man who ran a brothel on Vandiver Drive was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison Monday.

Barry Manthe pleaded guilty Sept. 4 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri to using the internet to promote a prostitution business, according to previous Missourian reporting.

Also charged in connection with operating the brothel was Ronald Clark, who was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison Monday.

Another man, Kenneth Jones, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for the sex trafficking of a minor on Dec. 13, after being arrested in 2017. That case was also related to the brothel at 1125 Vandiver Drive.

The brothel was brought to the public’s attention by Missourian reporting published in May 2017, which also exposed possible sex trafficking there.
