Broadway will be closed Sunday from Providence Road to Eighth Street for the Mid-Missouri Soap Box Derby.

The road will be closed from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The derby will start at 8 a.m. and is expected to conclude by 5 p.m., according to derby director Rick McKernan.

The Mid-Missouri Soap Box Derby has been running since 1938. This year's race will be its biggest one yet, with 49 cars and drivers participating, McKernan said. The winner of this race will compete in the All-American Soap Box Derby in Akron, Ohio, in July.
