UPDATE, 7/20 10:15 p.m.: Columbia police have announced that runaway Summer Skye Allen has been found safe.

"We greatly appreciate the quick response from our media partners and residents on social media to spread the information that assisted in locating her," Assistant Chief Jill Schlude said.

Columbia police have asked the public to share any information about a 13-year-old girl who ran away from her home, the department announced in a Saturday press release.

Summer Skye Allen was last seen Thursday at about 6:30 p.m. heading south toward Business Loop 70 from the Super 7 Motel, located at 1306 Range Line St. At the time, she was wearing a floral tank top, blue jean capris and flip flops.

"While we are always concerned for the safety of children who leave their home and don't return as expected, the extreme heat we have been experiencing is an important factor in locating Summer," Assistant Chief Jill Schlude said in the press release.

Allen is a white female with black hair and brown eyes. Her height is between 5 feet, 2 inches and 5 feet, 5 inches, and she weighs approximately 100 pounds.

The department said anyone who sees or hears from her or anyone with useful information should immediately dial 911 to contact the nearest law enforcement agency, or call the Columbia Police Department at 573-874-7652.
