The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch that begins Monday night and goes through Wednesday night.

There's a 90 percent chance of heavy rain Monday night, according to the weather service.

The rain could develop into a severe storm with damaging wind gusts and hail, according to the weather service.

Rain is expected to continue through Wednesday night, with a 70 percent chance Tuesday and a 60 percent chance Wednesday. Thunderstorms were also likely for Wednesday, according to the weather service.

The flash flood watch was issued for Boone, Callaway and Cole counties.
