COLUMBIA — A Jefferson City man was arrested in Columbia on Sunday evening on suspicion of sexual assault with a weapon.
Columbia police arrested Jemell Dupree Butler, 19, on charges of first-degree sodomy, first-degree robbery and armed criminal action, a felony warrant with a bond of $2,500 and two misdemeanor charges with a bond of $400.
Bonds had not yet been set on the sodomy, robbery and armed criminal action charges.
According to a news release from Columbia police, a man arranged a meeting with a 25-year-old woman he had met online. The two were in the woman's car in the 1100 Block of I-70 Drive Southwest when the man pulled out a knife and demanded the woman perform sexual acts. The woman fought for the knife, injuring the man's hands.
The woman was not harmed, according to the release, and the man fled on foot with her cellphone after she attempted to call law enforcement. The woman drove to Fazoli's Restaurant where she called the police.
