COLUMBIA — Lucy's Corner Cafe will be ringing up its final orders and close its doors next Friday. Lucy J. Reddick has owned and operated the beloved diner for 13 years.

Reddick has been serving home-cooked food at the cafe at Sixth and Broadway for three decades. She worked there for 17 years when it was Ron's Country Boy then bought the restaurant and transformed it into the diner the community knows and loves.

"It is sad but necessary at this point," Reddick said Friday. "I have watched families grow up here, my kids grew up here, even I grew up here."

Lucy's Facebook page advertises the diner as serving "the best breakfast in Boone County."

After 30 years, though, Reddick said she she wants to close the business on her own terms.
