The Wine Cellar & Bistro owners Craig and Sarah Cyr announced Monday they are selling their business after 16 years.

The restaurant, located at 505 Cherry St., will now be in the hands of manager Dan Bauer and his wife, Ali Ratcliffe Bauer, an experienced chef.

According to a post from the restaurant's Facebook page, the new owners met while working at The Wine Cellar & Bistro.

The pair moved to Chicago, where Ratcliffe Bauer worked under James Beard Award-winning chef Carrie Nahabedian at Michelin Star-rated restaurant NAHA. She then led the culinary team at award-winning Chicago restaurant Brindille. She has been nominated for the Jean Banchet Chef of the Year award twice, according to the Facebook post.

The couple moved back to Columbia a few months ago, and Bauer began managing The Wine Cellar & Bistro.

The new owners will take over The Wine Cellar & Bistro starting July 1.

The Cyrs said on the restaurant's Facebook page that they will be spending their new free time focusing on their family and hosting small-scale food and wine events.

"Craig and I cannot explain how many mixed emotions we are feeling at this time," Sarah Cyr wrote in the Facebook post. "We are so excited and proud to watch Dan & Ali make their start and they will continue to rock out awesome food and serve this wonderful Columbia community."
