JEFFERSON CITY — Only one major step remains before lawmakers give final approval to banning mandatory union fees in Missouri.

Republicans and proponents of "right-to-work" say that the law would be a boon to Missouri's economy, resulting in higher wages and more jobs. Opponents of the legislation, which includes organized labor, say that "right-to-work" lowers wages and reduces the amount of skilled laborers.
