Dolores “Dodie” Agnes Wright, 93, of Columbia passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019, at The Bluffs in Columbia. She was born Feb. 11, 1926, in Gilliam, Missouri, a daughter of the late Joseph and Emma M. (Weusler) Herman. Dolores was united in marriage in 1947 in Columbia to Donald H. Wright, who preceded her in death in 1997. They were married for almost 50 years.

Dolores received her first communion at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville, Missouri, and attended school at St. Peter School in Jefferson City, Missouri, then went on to attend the College of Beauty in Jefferson City. She worked for Parson Sisters Beauty Salon in Columbia. After marriage and raising five children, she worked in retail sales at Crown Drug Store, Sears, National Food Store and JCPenney. She retired from Kmart at the age of 72.

She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Columbia. Dolores enjoyed gardening, flowers and loved vegetables out of the garden. She also loved camping, cooking and loved all holidays with her family.

Dolores is survived by two sons, William Wright and Jerry Wright, both of Columbia; three daughters, Becky Taylor (Robert) of Greensboro, North Carolina, Debbi Whitman (Ed) of Memphis, Tennessee, and Phyllis Kmiec of Linn, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Christine Taylor, Erica Morris, Justin Whitman, Tyler (Amy) Whitman, Grant Whitman, Christopher and Kasey Kmiec; and six great-grandchildren, Chloe Morris, Andrew and Arianna Whitman, and Roxie, Regan and Rye Whitman.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph Herman, Edwin Herman and Killian Herman; six sisters, Mary Herman, Caroline Herman, Delia Kramer, Alma Lueckenhoff, Sarah Schell and Stella Block; and a son-in-law, Hubert “Pete” Kmiec.

Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 903 Bernadette Drive. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Msgr. Michael Flanagan officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
