Bobby was born in Boone County on May 2, 1934, to Velpo and Flossie (McKissick) Roberts. He was a graduate of Hickman High School.

On March 15, 1962, he was united in marriage to Marcella Caruthers, who survives.

Bobby was a self-employed contractor, building many family homes throughout Boone County. He was also employed with MU in the athletic department.

He was a talented artist, loved music and singing and had a deep-rooted appreciation of antiques. He enjoyed refinishing and restoring furniture, recaning chairs and attending auctions. With his family, he loved listening to music, stomping them at Trivial Pursuit and watching sports and westerns.

In addition to his wife, Marcella, Bobby is survived by two daughters, Shelly (Vern) Johnson and Angie (Chad) Rosenstengel; three grandchildren, Katelyn, Leah and Keiland; one great-grandson, Carter; one brother-in-law, Earl (Mariea) Caruthers; two sisters-in-law, Sue Caruthers and Eula Caruthers; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bobby may be best remembered for his resilience, having defeated death countless times, leaving his family, friends and doctors in complete and total amazement. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
