Forrest Early Tate, 87, of Columbia passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019, at Boone Hospital.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Rockbridge Church of God Holiness. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rockbridge Church of God Holiness, with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Forrest was born Sept. 2, 1931, in Columbia, the son of Forrest E. Tate and Mary (Louderhaugh) Tate. He graduated from MU with a doctoral degree in education. He had a long and distinguished career in education and management consulting. He was proud of his association with the university and was a proud fan of Mizzou sports. He was an active and devoted member of his church, Rockbridge Church of God Holiness. He was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a family man, devoted to his children and grandchildren.

Forrest is survived by his children, Jennifer Tate (Ray) Arguello of Orlando, Florida, and their children, Zach and Zoe; Souder (Susan) Tate of Springfield and their children, Landon and Maranda; and Casey Tate (Dan) Jones of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and their children, Chelsea, Madison, Drew and Baker; his sisters, Erlene Embrey and Virginia Walsh, both of Columbia; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Helen Wren, Mary Hall and Eleanor Crews.
