Jacob Allen Shabaka D’Agostino, 20, passed unexpectedly on March 19, 2021, in Columbia, MO.
Jake was intelligent, kind and adored by all who knew him. Even as a shy boy in a boisterous family, his strength and wisdom were immediately apparent in any situation.
As a young man, he was cautious about who he let in to his inner circle, and that privilege came with heavy devotion and loyalty that his friends generously reciprocated. Jake was a positive weight on the scales of humanity, and it is truly up to every one of us to take up that weight now that he has left us.
Jacob was preceded in death by his uncle, Jacob D’Agostino, and his (great) aunt, Sandra Burr.
He is survived by his (grand) mother, Debbie D’Agostino, his father, Eli (Mandey) D’Agostino, his mother, Ahsurah Shabaka, his brother, Jaymond Shabaka, his aunts and uncles, John (Laura) D’Agostino, Katy (Kenny) D’Agostino, Sam D’Agostino, Maria D’Agostino, Lucia D’Agostino, Mary D’Agostino, and Bill Burr, his cousins, Karlos D’Agostino, Elizabeth (Tise) Okuonghae, Anna (Gabe) Wilkerson, Allison D’Agostino, Aaron Kochanski, Matthew Kochanski, Gemma Preston, Sam D’Agostino, Lauren D’Agostino, Maggie D’Agostino, Katy Burr, Jeff Burr, Alex Isriggs, Jordan Isriggs, and his “nieces and nephews,” Dante, Aisha, Sophia, Violet, Annabelle, Martin, Amanda, Jeremy, Arie, Ashley, and Blaze, and innumerable friends, friends of the family and community members that were as good as family.
A memorial to honor the man that Jacob was will be held on April 10, 2021, from 2-4pm at the Riechmann Indoor Pavilion at Stephens Lake Park (2300 E. Walnut Street, Columbia, MO).
A GoFundMe has been set up to take care of arrangements and help sustain his grandmother in his absence. Any changes to memorial date and time will be posted there.
