We announce, with deep love and sadness, that Patricia “Pat” Maulin Epple (1929-2021), recently passed at Lenoir Woods in Columbia, MO.
Hers was a life of remarkable achievement and notable resilience. She was one of five children born to Gussie Dean Doolin Maulin and George Washington Maulin in Buffalo, MO, weathering the Depression with her siblings.
In high school, Patricia won a full scholarship to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia. She would graduate, marry her husband of 54 years (Robert C. Epple 1929-2006), and together raise three children: Patricia Suella Epple Behrns (1954-1993, Gary), Robert W. Epple (Columbia, MO) and Carolyn A. Epple (Sebastopol, CA) (Sheree Sievert).
She is also survived by her two granddaughters — Katy Henke (Dillan) of St. Charles, MO, and Kara Epple of Boulder, CO — their mother Elizabeth Rossetti, and two great grandsons, Henry and Jackson Henke.
Patricia was predeceased by her husband, parents and her older brother William Maulin. She is survived by her remaining three brothers and their spouses, Jack Maulin of Idaho, Jim Maulin of Florida, and Jerry Maulin, also of Florida, plus many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Pat was an avid reader, tennis player, and duplicate bridge competitor. She sought ways to be of service, including the King’s Daughters, a religious-affiliated community service group, and maintained an active role at the Missouri United Methodist Church. One of her favorite past times, in addition to tennis, was traveling and skiing with her family. She also delighted in entertaining and became accomplished in gourmet cuisine.
Service will be held at the Missouri United Methodist Church, 204 S. Ninth St. Columbia, MO on April 28, at 1pm.
