Ragtag Cinema shows independent films and is a venue for the True/False Film Fest.

Don’t want to spend a lot on a date? Here are some ideas for activities you can do for little or no money.

Bowling at AMF Town and Country Lanes

AMF Town and Country Lanes offers specials most nights of the week on bowling, food and arcade games. Some specials include $2.22 bowling games after 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and $2.50 bowling games after 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Movie Night

On Wednesday nights, the film committee with the MU Department of Student Activities shows free movies to students. These movies range from Hollywood hits to independent films. “The Shape of Water,” “Darkest Hour” and “Lady Bird” were all shown as free movies last spring.

The movies usually start at 8 p.m. and there is candy available for $1. Movies are also shown on Friday and Saturday nights, but cost $1.

First Fridays

The North Village Arts District holds a free art crawl on the first Friday of every month. The event covers a nine square block area including College Avenue, Ninth Street, Rogers Street and the alley south of Walnut Street The event lasts from 6 to 9 p.m.

The art crawl offers free food and drinks from local businesses, and local musicians perform while you look at the art on display.
