Former Tiger Aldon Smith arrested on DUI charge

Aldon Smith, who played defensive end at Missouri from 2008-10, was arrested on Monday in Mission, Kansas under suspicion of a DUI.

According to the Kansas City Star, Smith was initially pulled over for a traffic violation and and was subsequently arrested under suspicion of a DUI. This is Smith’s fourth DUI-related arrest since 2012.

Smith, who put up 14.5 sacks in two seasons with the Tigers, last played in the NFL during the 2015 season.

During his NFL career, Smith set an NFL record with 33.5 sacks in his first two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, reaching the NFC championship game and then the Super Bowl in back-to-back seasons.

Shred Fest skateboarding event scheduled for June 15

The Columbia Parks and Recreation Department is hosting Shred Fest on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Columbia Skate Park in Cosmo Park, 1615 Business Loop 70 West.

Shred Fest will include music, skateboarding contests, prizes, raffles and more. Spectators and non-skaters are welcome.
