The University of Missouri gained another future running back on Tuesday when Knoxville’s Elijah Young, a three-star back at South-Doyle High School, announced his commitment on Twitter to join the Tigers’ 2020 recruiting class.

Young, 5-foot-9 and 175 pounds, chose MU over four other schools on his final list: Tennessee, South Carolina, Mississippi State and Kentucky. He made his official visit to Missouri last weekend.

Last season, Young gained 684 yards and scored nine touchdowns for South-Doyle. This spring, he finished second in the 200 meters and third in the 100 meters at the Tennessee state high school track and field meet. He is listed as the 15th-best football recruit in Tennessee by 247sports.com.

Young is the second running back in Missouri’s 2020 recruiting class, joining Dominique Johnson from Crowley, Texas, and he is the Tigers’ ninth commitment so far for 2020.
