Missouri track and field redshirt senior Gabi Jacobs advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in discus at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships on Friday. It will be Jacobs' third appearance at the NCAA discus final in Austin, Texas. 

Her throw of 57.50 meters (188-8) put her in fourth place overall. Both in 2017 and 2018, Jacobs finished fifth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Jacobs will also aim to advance in finals for shot put when she competes at 5:15 p.m. Saturday. 

Missouri redshirt freshman Jayson Ashford finished third in heat two and 25th overall in the 200 meter dash, earning an automatic bid to quarterfinals on Saturday. He beat his personal best of 20.95, with a time of 20.90. He will compete in quarterfinals at 9:50 p.m. 

Missouri athletes will finish competition at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships on Saturday with field events starting at 4:45 p.m. and track events at 8 p.m. 

Four Columbia College track and field athletes earn NAIA All-American Honors 

Malik Holman, Jacob Jenkins, Travis Line and Tyler Lawson received NAIA All-American Honors after placing second in the final of the 4x800 meter run with a time of 7:31.63.

The Cougars had seven athletes compete at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Mason McCaleb placed 9th in the discus through with a distance of 47.99 meters. Kaleena Logan placed 12th in triple jump with 11.59 meters. Alex Fritz finished 24th in the 400 meter preliminary with a time of 49.78.
