The awards continue to roll in for former Missouri pitcher TJ Sikkema. On Monday, he was named to the 2019 Baseball America all-American second team, Sikkema’s second all-American recognition since the Tigers’ season ended last month.
Baseball America named a 16-player first team to its all-American squad, and 17-player units for its second and third all-American teams. It is the second all-American team to which Sikkema has been named. Earlier, the junior was selected to the third team of Collegiate Baseball’s all-American squad.
Earlier this month, he was selected by the New York Yankees as the 38th overall pick in Major League Baseball’s amateur draft, and he signed with New York late last week.
In his 2019 season with Missouri, Sikkema went 7-4 with a 1.32 earned run average and 101 strikeouts in 88.2 innings. He was named to the All-SEC second team, and was also chosen as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association District 6 Player of the Year.
