Rock Bridge running back Nate Peat is known for his creativity in the backfield, so why wouldn’t he be creative with his commitment announcement? After his name was announced during Friday’s senior night ceremonies, Peat removed his pads and revealed a T-shirt bearing a tree and block “S” logo.

The star running back chose Stanford.

Peat narrowed his list down to two schools — Stanford and Northwestern — in July, and his commitment Friday ended nearly three months of speculation.

Peat, listed as a three-star recruit by 247Sports, saw his profile explode after an incredible junior season. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound running back rushed for 1,582 yards and 16 touchdowns in Rock Bridge’s 9-2 season, drawing offers from Missouri, Iowa, Northwestern, Minnesota, Purdue, Iowa State and Kansas.

Heading into Friday night’s game, Peat had racked up 731 yards on the ground and punched in six touchdowns. The Bruins improved to 3-2 after beating Hickman 31-0 on Friday night.
