At the trap and skeet shooting events, the vivid sound of gunfire contrasted with Sunday morning silence during the Show-Me State Games. Competitors at Prairie Grove Shotgun Sports fired at neon orange targets in the air, aiming high, aiming low, and shooting two at once during doubles. Rob Hyder, who hit all fifty of his targets, said he started out as a quail hunter but now shoots skeet targets with friends for the camaraderie. Richard Dale, 77, said he has been shooting since before he could remember. Ben Steelman, a high school freshman, traveled three hours from Houston, Missouri to participate in the games.
