Is Columbus Day really a holiday?

In 1492, Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue, but recently several U.S. states have stopped recognizing Columbus Day as a holiday. Several now celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day instead, while others don't recognize the holiday at all.
