Members of the Columbia community gathered at the MU Health Care Pavilion on Thursday for the first-ever Small Business Festival.

“We wanted the small businesses to be recognized,” Andrea Lynn, planner of the event, said. “We have done other events in the past, but never in a family friendly location like this, with music, food and the opportunity to chat.”

More than 40 different business had a stall at the festival. Food trucks and live music were present as well.

“This is a lovely opportunity to grow,” Lisa Driskel Hawxby, one of the organizers and owner of DogMaster Distillery, said. “Small business are the heart and soul of this community.”
