Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation opened four new bocce ball courts for the public on Wednesday in Cosmo Park. The project has been brought up to the city council for close to 12 years and was finally completed this summer. The courts are made of crushed oyster shells, which are easier to sustain and prevent having to remake the courts every year. The event was attended by Mayor Brian Treece, members of the Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation, the Special Olympics Bocce Ball team and members of the public.
