After receiving a letter from a first-grader saying he wanted to be a police officer when he grew up, the Columbia Police Department decided to pay him a visit at school. Ashton Dixon, 6, was joined for lunch by Police Chief Geoff Jones and Officers Jill Schlude and Brian Richenberger on Friday, September 20, 2019, at Cedar Ridge Elementary School in Columbia. After enjoying lunch together, Ashton gave the three officers a tour of his school. He introduced the officers as "my friends" to his peers and school staff. Ashton also rode in a police car and tested the sirens and lights.
